It does not matter if you are a vast multinational or a small start up...anyonce can fall foul of injection moulding nightmares. Itch knows how crucial a part this can play, and incorrect designs, struggling factories and more could lead to delays and extra costs. In one case study, an Itch customer wanted a high quality, overmoulded part with no risk of debonding - no mean feat in many products. Itch recommended using twin injection moulding whereby the substrate (hard part) and elastomer overmould are injected on the same machine, allowing for excellent positional accuracy and increased bonding.
The heat increases the chemical bond of the molecules in the substrate and thermoplastic elastomer, yet the factory said that it could not be done with the current design. Where other companies would admit defeat, Itch worked with the factory to help design the tooling and challenge why they said it could not be done (when we knew that it could). Eventually, with ingenuity and persistence the mould was made and now produced incredibly durable parts. This could not be possible without Itch having their expert team on the ground in Asia, coupled with a western mindset.
